Be reasonable. Sometimes I have clients who ask me to do things for them when there is no legal remedy. For example, I’ll have a client say, “I never want to pay child support”. Well child support is governed by the Kansas Child Support guidelines. If you are really upset about paying child support maybe you need to go talk with your legislature rather than being upset with your attorney’s or the judge. Set your expectations that are reasonable within the scope of the law. Being unreasonable is only going to hurt your case and make you look bad in front of the judge.
