Talk to people, just talk to people. I see people every day, they spend an overwhelming majority of their time just looking at their phone. You would be surprised at what information you could glean, what friendships you could forge, what advantages you’ll have in the legal community and in the business community just by talking to folks. If you see somebody on the elevator say, “where are you going?” or “What do you do on floor number fourteen” and listen to what they have to say. You will be surprised at the relationship that may form, and a potential contact that you may need down the road in that specific area of bushiness. This translates itself over not just into the legal community, but in all business relationships or all personal relationships. Go out of your way just to talk to somebody for a few minutes, you would be surprised at the relationship you can gain, the information you can gain, and how you can use that to your advantage down the road.
